Madras High Court upholds DMK's Regupathy victory in Thirumayam
The Madras High Court has dismissed an election petition challenging former DMK Minister S. Regupathy's victory from the Thirumayam constituency. The court rejected the challenge filed by losing TVK candidate C. Chinthamani, who had contested the result despite a margin of over 1,400 votes.

Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan of the Madras High Court has rejected an election petition filed against the victory of DMK leader S. Regupathy from the Thirumayam assembly segment, clearing the way for the former minister to retain his seat.
The petition was filed by C. Chinthamani, the candidate fielded by the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), who lost the election by a margin of 1,492 votes. Despite the narrow margin, the court found insufficient grounds to overturn the election result.
The dismissal of the petition comes after a judicial examination of the claims raised by the losing candidate. With the court's order, Regupathy's election from the constituency stands validated, settling any legal challenges to his mandate from the polls.
The verdict reinforces the finality of the election outcome in Thirumayam, ending the post-poll legal contestation in one of Tamil Nadu's keenly watched assembly segments.
