Madras High Court upholds Vilathikulam DMK MLA's election victory
The Madras High Court has dismissed a writ petition challenging the election victory of DMK MLA Markandayan from Vilathikulam constituency. The court also declined to grant the petitioner liberty to pursue alternative legal remedies.

A bench of the Madras High Court comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan has rejected a writ petition that sought to challenge the electoral victory of Markandayan, the DMK member representing Vilathikulam.
The court's decision came after examining the petition filed against the legitimacy of the MLA's win. In its ruling, the bench found no grounds to sustain the challenge and proceeded to dismiss the petition entirely.
In addition to dismissing the petition, the court refused to grant the petitioner any liberty to pursue other remedies available under law. This restriction effectively bars the petitioner from seeking recourse through alternative legal channels in relation to the same matter.
The dismissal consolidates Markandayan's position as the elected representative from the constituency. The ruling underscores the court's confidence in the validity of the electoral process and the legitimacy of the poll outcome in the constituency.
