MAF seeks to revive multi-agency border security framework
The Malaysian Armed Forces has proposed reinstating a coordinated border security model previously employed under a national task force, according to the Chief of Defence Force. The proposal has been submitted to the National Security Council for consideration.

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is pushing for the resurrection of a multi-agency border security framework that proved effective during its earlier deployment under a national task force structure.
The proposal, submitted to the National Security Council, represents an effort to strengthen Malaysia's border management capabilities through enhanced inter-agency coordination. The framework would draw together resources and personnel from multiple security and enforcement agencies to address challenges along the country's maritime and land borders.
Defence officials have indicated that the integrated approach previously achieved notable results in border operations and cross-agency intelligence sharing. The framework would consolidate command structures and streamline decision-making processes that characterised the earlier task force model.
The reactivation of such a system comes amid ongoing efforts to bolster national security infrastructure and address transnational threats. Officials have emphasised that the proposal aligns with broader strategic objectives to enhance coordination between defence, law enforcement, and maritime authorities.
Pending approval from the National Security Council, implementation could enhance Malaysia's capacity to monitor and secure its extensive borders more effectively through consolidated operational protocols and improved resource allocation.
