SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Magsingal municipal authorities have declared a liquor prohibition across all public cemeteries and within a 300-meter perimeter of their boundaries on November 1 and 2, coinciding with the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
The measure, formalized through Executive Order No. 69, aims to maintain peace and public order as residents visit burial grounds to honor their deceased relatives during the traditional Undas observance. The two-day restriction covers the entire protected zone surrounding cemetery facilities.
Local government officials anticipate that the liquor ban will help prevent disturbances and ensure a solemn atmosphere during the significant cultural and religious observance. The prohibition applies uniformly across all public burial grounds within Magsingal's jurisdiction.
The municipal government has issued the order to manage crowd behavior during the peak visitation period when thousands of Filipinos typically gather at cemeteries nationwide to pay respects to departed loved ones and participate in family traditions associated with the holiday.
