Ravi Uppal, co-founder of the Mahadev online betting platform, has been apprehended in Dubai, marking a significant development in the sprawling investigation into the illegal gambling operation. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have begun extradition proceedings to bring Uppal back to India to face criminal charges.

The arrest comes as authorities escalate their pursuit of individuals linked to the Mahadev application, which operated as an unlicensed online betting and gaming platform. Uppal's detention in Dubai represents progress in the agencies' coordinated effort to dismantle the operation and hold its operators accountable.

Investigators believe Vikas Chhaparia, another accused in the case, is also currently in Dubai. The ED and CBI are pursuing multiple channels to secure the return of both individuals to India, where they face investigations related to running an illegal gambling enterprise and alleged money laundering.

The Mahadev app case has drawn attention from multiple central agencies investigating the scale and scope of the illegal online betting network. The case underscores ongoing concerns about unregulated gambling platforms operating across borders and the challenges authorities face in apprehending accused persons who flee Indian jurisdiction.
