Maharashtra FDA suspends licences of five food outlets at Mumbai Cricket Association

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has revoked the food operating licences of five outlets located within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) compound following an inspection that revealed multiple breaches of food safety regulations.
The suspended outlets are the Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing, and Clubway & Pastry Counter. During an inspection conducted on August 20, FDA officials documented deficiencies spanning food handling practices, storage conditions, refrigeration systems and overall sanitation standards. At one facility, inspectors found ice accumulation in kitchen refrigerators alongside unclean and slippery flooring areas, presenting contamination and safety hazards.
The action against the MCA establishments forms part of a statewide enforcement campaign by the Maharashtra FDA. During the broader drive, inspectors examined 45 food service establishments including hotels, restaurants, eateries and dhabas. The agency suspended operating licences at 11 food outlets in total, issued improvement notices to 33 establishments and conducted 25 compliance raids.
The suspensions underscore heightened regulatory scrutiny on food safety standards across Maharashtra as health authorities tighten enforcement mechanisms to protect consumers from foodborne illness risks and contamination hazards.
