Maharashtra Food Authority Suspends 30 Licenses Over Safety Violations

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra announced the suspension of licenses and registration certificates at 30 food establishments on Monday, marking a significant enforcement action across multiple divisions.
The suspensions were distributed geographically, with 13 establishments in Mumbai, six in the Konkan division, eight in the Pune division, and three in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division losing their operational clearances. The action followed inspections that identified critical violations of food safety and licensing regulations.
In addition to the license suspensions, the FDA seized food stocks and products from the affected establishments, with the total value of confiscated materials estimated at approximately one crore rupees. The seizures were conducted to prevent the distribution of non-compliant food products to consumers.
The enforcement drive underscores the state's commitment to maintaining food safety standards across the region. The FDA regularly conducts inspections and monitoring operations to ensure establishments comply with prescribed hygiene, labeling, and operational requirements.
