MUMBAI — The Maharashtra government has constituted a committee to review and recommend reforms for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), with retired judge Dilip Bhosale serving as its chairman and Tukaram Mundhe as secretary.
The move comes amid growing demands from recruitment aspirants who have been staging protests in Pune and other parts of the state. The candidates are pressing the government to fill approximately 70,000 vacant positions across various categories and expand the number of seats available in Group C examinations.
The committee's formation signals the government's intent to address long-standing grievances within the state's civil service recruitment process. Among the key demands being raised by protesters are the withdrawal of cases filed against demonstrators during recruitment-related agitations.
Former judge Bhosale, who has been tasked with leading the reform initiative, is expected to examine existing procedures and practices at the MPSC to identify areas requiring modernisation and improvement. The appointment of Mundhe as secretary underscores the administrative priority being given to the committee's work.
