Maharashtra relaxes age limit for state recruitment exams by one year

The Maharashtra government has granted a one-year relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates taking part in state recruitment examinations, a decision aimed at expanding opportunities for job seekers across the state.

The approval follows a proposal from the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) to advertise more than 16,000 Group C positions across various government departments. The positions are expected to attract significant interest from candidates seeking stable government employment in the state.

The MPSC Group C Combined Preliminary Examination scheduled for 2026 has already generated substantial response, with approximately 12 lakh applications received for the initial phase. The commission had previously advertised more than 5,000 vacancies for these positions, indicating robust demand for state government jobs.

The age relaxation is expected to benefit candidates who may have missed earlier examination cycles due to various circumstances. State officials indicated that the measure aligns with efforts to ensure wider participation and provide more opportunities for qualified candidates seeking recruitment through the civil service pathway.
