Mahindra expands Battery-as-a-Service model across entire eSUV range
Mahindra Group has broadened its Battery-as-a-Service financing option to encompass its complete electric SUV portfolio, allowing customers to purchase vehicles and batteries separately at lower upfront costs.

The automotive conglomerate announced the expansion of its innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model across all variants of its XEV 9S, XEV 9e, and BE 6 SPORTEQ electric SUVs. The dual-financing structure, which debuted with the performance-oriented BE 6 SPORTEQ, enables buyers to separate vehicle and battery payments, reducing initial purchase burdens while offering greater monthly payment flexibility.
Under the expanded BaaS programme, customers can acquire the BE 6 SPORTEQ for Rs 11.45 lakh with battery usage charged at Rs 3.75 per kilometre. This approach substantially lowers entry barriers for electric vehicle adoption in India's increasingly competitive EV market.
Mahindra attributed the decision to expand the model to robust customer demand across the country, indicating strong market validation for financing solutions that ease the transition to electric mobility. The company said the positive reception demonstrated that consumers actively seek alternatives to traditional outright purchase models when considering premium electric vehicles.
The BaaS expansion represents Mahindra's strategic push to address affordability concerns surrounding electric SUVs in India, where battery costs remain a significant component of overall vehicle pricing.
