Mahindra Finance profit jumps 55% on strong loan disbursements

Mahindra Finance's second quarter of fiscal 2027 performance underscored the strength of India's retail lending market, with the company posting net profit of ₹882 crore against ₹570 crore in the same quarter last year. Loan disbursements climbed 22% to ₹16,499 crore, demonstrating robust demand for the company's auto finance, two-wheeler loans, and other consumer credit products.

Assets under management expanded at a measured pace of 15% year-on-year, indicating disciplined growth across the company's portfolio. The expansion was complemented by improved underwriting standards, with credit costs declining to 1.6% in the current quarter from 2.2% a year earlier. The reduction in provisioning requirements reflected stronger asset quality and effective risk management practices.

The results highlight Mahindra Finance's position as a key player in India's non-banking financial services sector at a time when rising disposable incomes and growing vehicle demand continue to fuel consumer credit growth. The company's ability to balance higher lending volumes with lower default rates suggests confidence in both market conditions and its own assessment of borrower creditworthiness.
