Mahindra & Mahindra Q2 profit jumps 25% on robust automotive performance

Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 25% year-on-year increase in consolidated profit for the quarter ended September 30, reaching ₹4,588 crore, as strength in its core automotive division offset weakness in the farm business.

The auto business emerged as the primary growth engine, with profit surging 55% alongside a 39% expansion in revenue. The segment benefited from robust domestic demand and improved operational efficiency during the quarter.

In contrast, the farm equipment business faced a more challenging environment. Sales and profitability declined amid a shift in the festive consumption calendar and persistent margin pressures affecting the sector.

The mixed quarterly performance underscores the divergent fortunes across M&M's portfolio, with the automotive sector capitalizing on strong market conditions while agricultural equipment faces near-term headwinds. Analysts will be watching closely for signs of stabilization in the farm business as the festive season progresses into the second half of the fiscal year.
