Mahindra & Mahindra is positioning itself for significant volume expansion of its Thar and Thar Roxx models, projecting at least 10 per cent growth over the coming 12 months. The manufacturer has substantially increased monthly production capacity for both vehicles to approximately 11,000 units, signaling confidence in sustained consumer demand for the popular sport utility vehicle range.
Ahead of the festive shopping season, when Indian automobile sales typically surge, Mahindra has built more than 30 days of inventory. This strategic stock accumulation underscores the company's expectation of robust offtake during the traditionally strong sales period and demonstrates preparation to meet anticipated customer orders without supply constraints.
The Thar and Thar Roxx have emerged as key growth drivers for Mahindra's passenger vehicle business. The expansion of production capacity reflects the brand's strengthened market position in the affordable SUV segment, where both models compete effectively against rivals. The increased inventory buffer also provides the dealer network with greater flexibility to serve customer demand promptly during peak buying seasons.
With manufacturing capacity now set at 11,000 units monthly, Mahindra appears well-positioned to capture incremental market share in a segment that continues to gain traction among Indian consumers seeking value-for-money SUV options. The company's investment in capacity expansion and inventory management suggests management confidence in sustaining the growth momentum these models have generated since their respective launches.
