A major fire broke out in a busy commercial market in Jammu, leaving a trail of destruction across multiple establishments. The incident resulted in the complete destruction of at least 15 retail shops and a hotel, with preliminary damage assessments placing losses in the several-crore range.

Fire and emergency services personnel arrived at the scene promptly upon receiving reports of the outbreak. However, the intensity of the flames proved challenging to contain, with the fire spreading rapidly from one structure to adjacent shops within minutes.

The speed with which the blaze consumed the establishments posed significant difficulties for firefighting operations. Despite the swift response from emergency teams, the commercial establishments, densely packed in the market area, provided little resistance to the advancing flames.

Investigations into the cause of the fire have not yet been concluded. Authorities are working to determine the origin of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage to the affected businesses and their proprietors.
