Major LPG distributors reject strike, push for commission talks
India's two largest LPG distributor federations have distanced themselves from strike action, signalling preference for negotiated resolution of commission disputes with the government and oil marketing companies.

The Federation of LPG Distributors of India (FLDI) and All India LPG Distributors Federation (AILDF), which together represent the majority of LPG distributors across the country, have rejected calls for industrial action over commission grievances.
Both organizations indicated they would pursue their demands through dialogue rather than disruptive measures. The move underscores growing divergence within the distributor community over strategy, with mainstream associations seeking engagement with authorities and energy companies to address concerns about margins and operational costs.
The federations have cited the need to maintain supply continuity and consumer access to cooking gas as reasons for avoiding strikes. They expressed willingness to participate in structured negotiations with oil marketing companies and government officials to resolve long-standing commission disputes.
Distributors have faced persistent pressure on their business models due to compressed margins and increased operational expenses. The push for dialogue suggests federation leadership believes negotiated outcomes may yield faster results than confrontational tactics.
The stance marks a shift from more aggressive posturing by some distributor sections and reflects attempts by major industry bodies to position themselves as responsible stakeholders capable of balancing commercial interests with broader supply chain stability.
