Major peatland fire extinguished after four-day battle

A major peatland fire has been brought under control after firefighting teams worked continuously over four days to suppress the blaze. The fire had affected an area covering 51 hectares before being fully extinguished.

Operations faced multiple obstacles throughout the firefighting campaign. Personnel reported that unseasonably hot weather and strong winds accelerated the fire's spread, while the absence of readily available water sources in the vicinity restricted the teams' ability to deploy water-based suppression methods effectively.

Access difficulties also hampered response efforts. Narrow road shoulders with soft soil conditions restricted heavy equipment movement and limited the deployment of machinery that could have accelerated containment. These infrastructure constraints forced firefighters to rely more heavily on manual labour-intensive techniques.
