Major Saigon River pedestrian bridge to be completed this month

Construction crews have successfully conducted technical inspections on the bridge assembly ahead of its final installation on the Saigon River. The project combines a main bridge structure weighing roughly 1,400 tonnes with a specialized steel supporting frame of approximately 2,000 tonnes, creating a combined weight of 3,400 tonnes that will span the river.

During the testing phase, engineers deployed about 30 self-propelled modular transporters to lift the entire assembly 40 centimeters off the ground. This controlled lift allowed technical teams to conduct comprehensive inspections of the structure's integrity and performance characteristics.

Advanced monitoring equipment and sensors were deployed throughout the testing process to record critical parameters and ensure the bridge meets all safety and engineering specifications. The data collected during these inspections has informed final preparations for the October 21 completion date.

The pedestrian bridge represents a significant infrastructure addition to Ho Chi Minh City's transportation network. Upon completion, the crossing is expected to facilitate improved connectivity across the Saigon River and support the city's broader urban development objectives.
