Fifty-one percent of Filipino adults want Vice President Sara Duterte to take the witness stand in her ongoing impeachment trial, according to the September 2026 Ulat ng Bayan survey conducted by Pulse Asia. The polling indicates a narrow but clear preference among the public for the vice president's personal appearance before the Senate impeachment court.
The survey found that approximately one-third of respondents, or 34 percent, opposed requiring Duterte to testify in person, leaving a significant portion of the population undecided on the matter. The results underscore public interest in the high-profile case and suggest Filipinos view direct testimony as an important component of the proceedings.
The data comes as the impeachment trial continues its course through the Senate. Duterte's potential testimony remains a point of contention, with supporters and opponents of her appearance advancing competing arguments about procedural requirements and constitutional obligations.
