Malaysia's health sector has recorded positive progress in reducing patient waiting times at major hospitals, with 72% now meeting the target of average bed availability within eight hours, according to the Health Ministry.
This represents a substantial improvement compared to state hospitals and major specialist facilities, which previously recorded average bed waiting times exceeding 480 minutes, or approximately eight hours.
The ministry attributed the gains to ongoing operational enhancements and better resource management at major public hospitals. The figures underscore efforts by the health sector to improve patient care delivery and reduce bottlenecks in the hospital system.
The performance metrics reflect the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility across the country's public hospital network. Officials indicated that sustained focus on operational efficiency would continue as part of broader healthcare transformation initiatives.
