Malabar Milma rolls out ₹1.72 crore cattle feed subsidy scheme

Malabar Milma, a key dairy cooperative in Kerala, has approved a subsidy package worth ₹1.72 crore to make cattle feed more affordable for milk producers in the region. The scheme will make quality feed available at reduced rates throughout September 2026 to dairy farmers across all primary cooperative societies operating in the Malabar area.

The subsidy initiative reflects efforts to support the livelihoods of dairy farmers who face mounting pressure from escalating feed costs. By bringing down the price of cattle feed during the designated period, the cooperative aims to ease the financial burden on milk producers and help maintain profitability in their operations.

All primary dairy cooperative societies in the Malabar region will participate in distributing the subsidized feed. Farmers affiliated with these societies will be able to access the lower-priced cattle feed, with the cooperative absorbing a significant portion of the cost through the subsidy scheme.

This measure comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen the dairy farming sector in Kerala, where cooperatives play a crucial role in organizing small and marginal farmers and providing them access to critical inputs and markets.
