KUALA LUMPUR — The Conference of Rulers has appealed to all parties to refrain from meddling in or exploiting the succession dispute affecting Negeri Sembilan's royal institution, according to statements issued on October 14.
The Malay Rulers emphasised that matters pertaining to state thrones remain the prerogative of the respective royal households and should be resolved through established constitutional and customary procedures. Their intervention highlights growing concerns about external pressure and political manoeuvring surrounding the issue.
The statement reflects the Rulers' commitment to preserving the sanctity of the institution and ensuring that succession matters are handled with the dignity and respect traditionally accorded to Malaysia's royal establishments.
Negeri Sembilan, one of Malaysia's nine sultanates, operates under constitutional frameworks that grant the state's royal family considerable autonomy over internal succession protocols. The Rulers' joint position underscores the importance of allowing such processes to proceed through proper institutional channels without external interference.
