Malaysia aims for six in ten EPF members to hit RM390,000 by 2030

Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is working towards ensuring that six out of every ten members achieve a minimum savings target of RM390,000 by 2030 under its retirement income adequacy framework.

The initiative reflects growing concerns about retirement preparedness among Malaysian workers. The RM390,000 benchmark has been established as a baseline requirement to support adequate income levels during retirement under the EPF's comprehensive adequacy framework.

According to current projections, approximately four in ten EPF members are already positioned to meet this savings milestone. The gap between current performance and the 2030 target indicates the need for enhanced savings strategies and member engagement to accelerate progress toward the goal.

The EPF's push to increase the proportion of members meeting retirement savings targets forms part of broader efforts to strengthen financial security for Malaysian workers in their later years. The fund continues to encourage contributions and savings discipline among its growing membership base to help bridge the retirement preparedness gap.
