Malaysia Airlines urges KLIA Ekspres use during MotoGP weekend

Malaysia Airlines has advised travellers heading to and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this weekend to consider using KLIA Ekspres as an alternative to road transport, citing expected traffic disruptions from the MotoGP championship race.

The airline's recommendation comes as the Sepang International Circuit hosts the Malaysian Grand Prix, an event that typically draws large crowds and creates significant congestion on roads leading to the airport. Ground transportation delays could impact passengers attempting to reach KLIA by car or taxi during peak travel periods.

KLIA Ekspres, the airport's dedicated rail link, offers a direct connection from KL Sentral to the airport terminal in approximately 28 minutes, bypassing road traffic entirely. The service operates frequent trains throughout the day and evening, providing a reliable alternative for passengers seeking to avoid weekend congestion.

Travellers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow additional time for check-in and security procedures. Malaysia Airlines recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before international departures and two hours before domestic flights, consistent with standard aviation guidelines.
