PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia and China have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple transport domains, marking a significant expansion of their strategic partnership.
The accord, signed in Putrajaya on September 23, encompasses land transport, maritime shipping, railway networks and civil aviation. Officials from both nations characterized the framework as essential to enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating trade flows between the two countries.
The memorandum establishes mechanisms for enhanced coordination in infrastructure development, technical expertise sharing and capacity building across transport sectors. Transport authorities from both sides are expected to establish working groups to identify priority projects and implementation timelines.
The agreement builds on existing transport corridors linking Malaysia and China, including the Port Klang-Qinzhou route and rail connections through Southeast Asia. Industry analysts view the expanded framework as positioning both nations to leverage broader regional integration initiatives.
