PUTRAJAYA, Aug 26 — Malaysia's government issued a formal condemnation on Wednesday following Israel's seizure of a UNRWA training centre in East Jerusalem, describing the action as an aggressive incursion that breaches international humanitarian standards.

The Malaysian foreign ministry stated that the forceful seizure represents a flagrant violation of the UN agency's mandate and immunity, which are essential for the organisation to carry out its critical work supporting Palestinian refugees across the region.

Official statements from Putrajaya emphasised that such actions undermine efforts to maintain stability and respect for international institutions operating in conflict-affected areas. Malaysia reiterated its position that all parties must adhere to international law and protect the operational capacity of humanitarian organisations.

The incident adds to ongoing tensions surrounding Israeli military operations in occupied Palestinian territories. UNRWA operates across multiple locations in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem, providing education, healthcare, and relief services to Palestinian refugees.

Malaysia joins several other nations and international bodies that have previously expressed concern over restrictions placed on UNRWA's operations in occupied territories.
