Malaysia's Ministry of Transport has confirmed that digital services company Zetrix AI is indebted to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) by more than RM200 million for unremitted collections.
The outstanding amount relates to funds collected on behalf of JPJ for road tax payments, driving licence renewals, and traffic fines since May 2023, according to the ministry's statement. The company, which rebranded from its former identity as MyEG, operates as a key intermediary for Malaysian motorists seeking to complete vehicle and licensing transactions.
The non-remittance of collected funds represents a significant financial irregularity in the management of public revenue. The case has raised questions about oversight mechanisms governing private service providers handling government collections.
Official investigations into the matter are understood to be ongoing. The JPJ has not yet announced details regarding recovery efforts or potential sanctions against the company. Motorists who have conducted transactions through Zetrix AI during the relevant period may seek clarification on the status of their payments through official JPJ channels.
