Malaysia fuel prices rise as government reduces subsidies on RON95, diesel

Malaysia's fuel prices have moved upward following adjustments to government subsidy levels, with unsubsidised RON95 petrol increasing by 15 sen per litre and premium RON97 rising by 10 sen per litre. Diesel prices without subsidies will also jump by 20 sen per litre, effective from the following trading day. The price adjustments reflect shifts in global crude oil markets and the government's ongoing recalibration of fuel subsidy mechanisms. Subsidised RON95 petrol, which remains price-controlled for eligible Malaysian motorists, was not affected by these latest increases. The government has maintained its dual-track fuel pricing system, which provides price caps on RON95 for qualifying consumers while allowing market-based pricing for premium fuel grades and unsubsidised products.
