Malaysia fuel prices set to rise as unsubsidised petrol, diesel climb
Unsubsidised petrol and diesel prices will increase by 10 to 20 sen per litre from August 20-26, the Ministry of Finance announced Tuesday. The adjustment reflects market movements in global crude oil prices.

KUALA LUMPUR — Retail prices for unsubsidised petroleum products across Malaysia will rise between 10 and 20 sen per litre effective August 20 through August 26, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
The price adjustment applies to unsubsidised grades of petrol and diesel sold at pump stations nationwide. The ministry did not specify the exact magnitude of the increase for each fuel type, indicating only the 10 to 20 sen range.
The adjustment comes as global crude oil markets continue to influence domestic fuel pricing mechanisms. Malaysia maintains a dual fuel pricing system, with subsidised RON95 petrol available at controlled prices while unsubsidised RON97 and diesel products fluctuate based on international benchmark rates.
Motorists relying on unsubsidised fuel grades should anticipate higher costs at the pump from next week. The ministry typically reviews fuel prices on a weekly basis, adjusting unsubsidised products to reflect movements in global commodity markets.
Consumers seeking to minimise fuel costs may consider purchasing before the price adjustment takes effect on August 20.
