PUTRAJAYA — Malaysia's Ministry of Health has announced that 3,025 candidates have been offered positions in the Institute of Health and Safety Malaysia (ILKKM) pre-service training programme, signalling continued investment in developing the country's nursing sector.
The placements represent a significant intake for the institute's professional nursing education pathway, which prepares graduates for roles across Malaysia's public and private healthcare systems. The programme provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training to equip trainees with the clinical competencies required for modern healthcare delivery.
The announcement underscores the government's commitment to addressing workforce gaps in the nursing profession as healthcare demand continues to rise across the region. With an ageing population and expanding healthcare services, Malaysia has prioritised the recruitment and training of qualified nursing staff to strengthen its health system's capacity and service delivery standards.
Successful candidates enrolled in the ILKKM programme will undergo structured training combining classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience in accredited healthcare facilities. Upon completion, graduates are expected to contribute to healthcare provision at various levels, from primary care clinics to tertiary hospitals.
