Malaysia is facing a significant skills gap as the nation pursues ambitious artificial intelligence development targets, with research indicating that approximately nine in ten workers feel underprepared for AI-related workplace changes. To bridge this divide, PEOPLelogy has launched the National AI Readiness Week, a comprehensive programme designed to equip five million Malaysians with essential AI competencies by 2030.

The initiative reflects growing recognition among policymakers and industry leaders that technological advancement alone is insufficient without corresponding workforce preparation. As Malaysia seeks to position itself as a regional AI hub, the upskilling programme targets workers across multiple sectors and skill levels, from entry-level positions to management roles.

The National AI Readiness Week serves as the flagship component of a broader strategy to democratize AI knowledge and capabilities across the Malaysian workforce. By focusing on practical skills and awareness-building, the programme aims to reduce workforce anxiety surrounding automation while enhancing Malaysia's competitive advantage in the regional economy.

Industry participation and government support will be critical to the initiative's success, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for sustained investment in training infrastructure and educational partnerships. The five-million-person target represents approximately one-third of Malaysia's workforce, underscoring the scale of the transformation envisioned over the coming decade.
