Malaysia is offering a 50 percent discount on toll charges to motorists during the Deepavali festival period, a move aimed at easing travel costs during the major Hindu celebration. The concession takes effect from midnight today and remains in force until 11:59pm on November 7. The toll reduction applies across participating highways and expressways nationwide, providing relief for commuters and travellers heading to family gatherings and festivities. Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is one of the most significant festivals celebrated by the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities across Malaysia. The discount is part of the government's efforts to facilitate festive season travel while recognising the cultural importance of the occasion to Malaysian communities.
