The amount raised represents less than 20 percent of the fine required before Najib can transition to house arrest to serve out his sentence. Najib, who was convicted in 2023 on charges related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, must settle the full fine amount before being eligible for alternative custody arrangements.
