JOHOR BAHRU — Malaysia's border authorities are stepping up readiness measures in advance of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) link, which is set to commence operations in January next year. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has initiated a comprehensive security enhancement programme to prepare for the increased passenger flow expected through the new rail connection.
The RTS link represents a significant infrastructure development connecting Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru with Woodlands in Singapore, creating a modern cross-border transport corridor. Officials have identified the need for robust security protocols to manage the anticipated high volume of commuters utilising the service daily.
Key preparations include coordination with relevant agencies, deployment of personnel, and implementation of advanced screening technologies at border checkpoints. The enhanced security framework is designed to balance efficient passenger processing with stringent border control standards, ensuring both safety and convenience for travellers.
