KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia's National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) has achieved significant progress in combating online fraud, returning RM14.3 million to victims while thwarting scams valued at RM100.9 million. The figures underscore the agency's effectiveness in responding to the growing threat of digital fraud affecting Malaysian consumers and businesses. According to Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution, these recovery efforts represent a substantial win in the government's broader campaign against organised cybercrime. The NSRC, established to coordinate rapid response to scam reports, has prioritised swift action in freezing suspicious bank accounts and tracing illicit fund transfers. The centre's multi-agency approach combines resources from police, banking institutions, and telecommunications regulators to intercept fraudulent transactions before victim funds are transferred beyond recovery. Officials stressed the importance of public vigilance and immediate reporting of suspicious activities. The NSRC urged Malaysians to verify financial requests through official channels and avoid sharing personal information with unverified contacts. The centre operates a 24-hour hotline for scam reports and provides guidance on recovery procedures for affected victims.
