Malaysia's 2027 budget set at RM510 billion, Anwar announces

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced Malaysia's 2027 budget framework totalling RM510 billion, signalling the government's continued investment push across the economy. The budget allocation incorporates contributions from various institutional investors and the private sector to support economic growth.

Government-linked investment companies (GLICs) will inject an additional RM25 billion into the economy under the new budget framework. This commitment underscores the role of state-backed investors in driving strategic development initiatives across key sectors.

Federal statutory bodies and Ministry of Finance-incorporated companies will contribute RM14.2 billion, while private sector participation is projected at RM11 billion. The combined investment from these sources demonstrates a coordinated approach to capital deployment and economic expansion.

The budget represents the government's fiscal strategy for the coming year, balancing public spending with targeted investments to support infrastructure, social programmes, and economic competitiveness. The multi-layered funding approach involving GLICs, statutory bodies, and private entities reflects Malaysia's collaborative investment model.
