Malaysia's air quality has improved significantly with the clearance of all hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings across the country, authorities confirmed. The development represents a positive shift in regional air conditions following earlier periods of deterioration.
Despite the overall improvement, six locations in Sarawak continue to face elevated pollution levels. These areas, including the Serian district, remain classified in the very unhealthy category, indicating that air quality in these zones poses health risks to vulnerable populations and the general public.
The very unhealthy classification typically requires residents in affected areas to reduce outdoor activities and take precautionary health measures. Individuals with respiratory conditions, children, and the elderly are particularly advised to limit exposure to outdoor air during such periods.
