KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Malaysia's Foreign Minister has stressed the importance of mental health awareness, urging the public to take their psychological wellbeing seriously and access support services when needed.
In an address marking World Mental Health Day, Tengku Zafrul Aziz highlighted the significance of breaking stigma surrounding mental health issues and encouraging open dialogue about psychological challenges.
The minister's statement comes as mental health concerns continue to affect a significant portion of the population across the region. Officials have emphasised that seeking professional help is a sign of strength rather than weakness.
The government has been working to expand mental health services and resources across the country, with various agencies providing counselling and support programmes to those in need. World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, aims to raise awareness and mobilise efforts in support of mental health globally.
Malaysians experiencing mental health difficulties are encouraged to reach out to healthcare providers, counsellors, and support organisations for assistance.
