PUTRAJAYA — The Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) is preparing detailed guidelines on starting basic salaries to ensure a structured and uniform approach to entry-level compensation across Malaysian industries, the ministry announced on Wednesday.

The guidelines are being developed to address wage-setting practices and will be rolled out beginning June 2027, providing employers with a framework for determining initial salary packages for new employees.

The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve labor standards and predictability in the employment market. By establishing clear baseline guidelines, the ministry aims to prevent wage disparities and ensure fair compensation practices for workers entering the job market.

The Human Resources Ministry said it is currently in consultation with various stakeholders, including employers, employee representatives, and industry bodies, to ensure the guidelines are practical and applicable across different sectors and company sizes.

Further details on the specific salary benchmarks and implementation mechanisms are expected to be announced as the June 2027 launch date approaches.
