Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the data-sharing arrangement will equip the immigration department with enhanced capability to assess individuals entering and leaving Malaysia. The integration of multiple government databases into NIISe is expected to improve the speed and accuracy of traveller profiling at border checkpoints. Access to Interpol's records will enable immigration officers to cross-reference international watchlists, while police data will allow screening against domestic criminal records. Information from the Inland Revenue Board and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation will provide additional background checks on travellers. The system represents a significant step toward a more coordinated approach to border management across Malaysian government agencies. Officials anticipate the real-time data access will streamline immigration procedures while maintaining security standards at all entry and exit points.
