Malaysia's immigration authorities are set to enhance border security through an expanded data-sharing arrangement that will connect the National Immigration Information System (NIISe) with multiple government agencies, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The system will integrate real-time information from Interpol, the Royal Malaysian Police, the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN). This integration will enable the Immigration Department to conduct more thorough screening of individuals crossing Malaysia's borders, allowing officers to cross-reference traveler information against multiple databases simultaneously. The ministry indicated that the enhanced capabilities would improve decision-making at immigration checkpoints and strengthen the country's border management. The data-sharing framework represents part of broader efforts to modernize Malaysia's immigration infrastructure and leverage technology for enhanced security and administrative efficiency.
