KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia's National Registration Department (JPN) has pledged continued vigilance in MyKad issuance, underscoring that the nation's identity card system has remained free of integrity breaches for 25 years.

The department's director-general made the statement while addressing concerns about document security and identity fraud prevention. The official highlighted the multi-layered control mechanisms JPN has implemented to prevent counterfeit cards and unauthorised issuance.

MyKad, the primary form of national identification, incorporates advanced security features and undergoes rigorous verification procedures before issuance. The department works in coordination with other government agencies to cross-check applicant information and flag suspicious applications.

The assurance comes as identity theft and document fraud remain persistent concerns across the region. JPN officials stressed that the department continuously upgrades its systems and training protocols to counter evolving security threats.

Residents requiring MyKad services are encouraged to apply through official JPN channels and verify information accuracy during the application process to prevent delays.
