Malaysia's MHTC, Maybank forge healthcare access pact across ASEAN

Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) and Maybank have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at broadening access to Malaysian healthcare services throughout Southeast Asia. The multi-year partnership will leverage Maybank's extensive customer base across the ASEAN region to promote Malaysian medical facilities and services to the bank's cardholders and clients.

The initiative represents an effort to enhance Malaysia's position as a regional healthcare hub by facilitating easier access to treatment options for patients across Southeast Asia. Through the partnership, Maybank customers will gain streamlined pathways to connect with participating Malaysian healthcare providers and medical tourism services.

According to the agreement framework, the collaboration is designed with a phased expansion strategy. The partnership will initially focus on establishing robust connectivity between Maybank's ASEAN operations and Malaysian healthcare providers, with plans to penetrate additional markets commencing in 2027.

The cooperation underscores Malaysia's broader healthcare sector ambitions to attract regional patients and capitalize on the growing demand for medical tourism in Southeast Asia. By combining MHTC's industry expertise with Maybank's regional banking infrastructure, the partnership aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem linking healthcare demand with established Malaysian medical capabilities.
