JOHOR BAHRU — The government has greenlit a RM60 million infrastructure project to construct a bridge directly linking the Bukit Chagar RTS Link Station with KTMB Komuter's existing rail network, according to the Transport Ministry.
The bridge will eliminate the need for Komuter passengers to make lengthy detours to access the Rapid Transit System station, streamlining connections between the two transport corridors. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity and improve the commuter experience across Johor's transport network.
The RTS Link, a 117-kilometre rapid transit service, connects Johor Bahru with Kuala Lumpur and facilitates cross-border movement between Malaysia and Singapore. Integration with the Komuter system is expected to increase ridership on both networks by providing commuters with more convenient interchange facilities.
The construction timeline and completion date for the bridge have not been disclosed. The ministry has not yet announced further details regarding the project's implementation plan or expected passenger capacity improvements.
