Malaysia to give 100,000 youth free AI app subscriptions

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unveiled details of the AI for the People programme, which aims to boost digital literacy among Malaysia's youth population. Participants aged between 18 and 30 years who successfully complete the designated training modules will be rewarded with three months of free subscription to AI applications.

The initiative is designed to equip young Malaysians with essential skills in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. By removing financial barriers to entry, the government seeks to democratise access to AI tools and ensure broader participation across the youth demographic.

The programme is expected to benefit around 100,000 young people, marking a significant investment in human capital development and digital upskilling. The three-month subscription period will allow participants to explore and familiarise themselves with AI applications before deciding on longer-term adoption.

The announcement reflects Malaysia's broader efforts to position itself as a digitally advanced nation in Southeast Asia.
