KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil unveiled a proposal today for a comprehensive national initiative designed to archive and preserve the speeches and written works of Malaysia's founding leaders.
The proposed programme would serve as a centralised repository for critical historical materials that documented the nation's formative years and the vision of key figures who shaped Malaysia's early development as an independent state.
Fahmi said the initiative would ensure that important oratory and written records reflecting the country's foundational principles and governance philosophy remain accessible to researchers, policymakers, and future generations of Malaysians.
The communications minister emphasised the cultural and historical significance of preserving such materials, noting that the speeches and writings of founding leaders provide valuable insights into the nation's constitutional framework, values, and the decisions that established Malaysia's institutional foundations.
Details regarding the implementation timeline, funding allocation, and institutional framework for the archival initiative were not immediately disclosed, with further announcements expected as the proposal moves through government channels.
