Malaysia to pursue legal action against MyEG, Zetrix AI over RM314m debt

The Malaysian government is preparing legal proceedings against MyEG Services and Zetrix AI over outstanding revenue payments valued at RM314 million, Parliament heard on Tuesday. Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that government revenue collections cannot be appropriated as company operational funds, emphasizing the severity of the alleged breach.

Loke told lawmakers that the delayed payments represent a serious violation of the agreements governing the relationship between the government and the two companies. He did not elaborate on the specific nature of the contracts or provide details on when the legal action would be filed.

The move comes as authorities seek to recover funds that were collected on behalf of the government but allegedly retained by the service providers. Officials have characterized the withholding of these revenues as unacceptable, given that the monies were collected through government-authorized channels and should have been remitted according to contractual terms.

The legal action marks an escalation in what appears to be a longstanding financial dispute between federal authorities and the two companies involved in revenue collection operations.
