Authorities have dismantled an extensive illegal mining network operating across Sarawak, recovering assets and cash valued at over RM40 million, according to enforcement operations conducted by Malaysian anti-corruption investigators. The operations, which targeted unlicensed sand mining and coal extraction activities, resulted in the detention of 14 men during raids conducted across seven locations in the state from August 19 to 22. Investigators identified systematic breaches of mining regulations and environmental protection laws across multiple sites in the region. The seizures represent one of the larger crackdowns on illicit mineral extraction in the state in recent years. Authorities have indicated that investigations into the operation and potential involvement of additional suspects remain ongoing.
