Malaysian consumer watchdog investigates adulterated petrol at seven stations

The Selangor branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has initiated an investigation into allegations of adulterated petrol at seven service stations across the state, according to the regional director.

Muhamad Hanif Asa'ari, head of KPDN Selangor, confirmed that enforcement teams have begun on-site inspections and enforcement measures at the affected petrol stations. The action follows complaints from consumers regarding the quality and purity of fuel purchased at the locations.

The investigation aims to determine whether station operators have engaged in the practice of mixing water with petrol, a violation that affects both consumer safety and product integrity. Such adulterations can cause vehicle damage and pose risks to motorists.

The KPDN has not yet disclosed the specific locations of the seven stations under investigation or provided details on the number of complaints received. Further updates on the findings and any enforcement action taken are expected as the investigation progresses.
