Malaysian PM Calls Gaza Conflict 'Israeli Terrorism', Sidesteps Pakistan Query

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has condemned Israel's military campaign in Gaza as 'terrorism', marking a strong statement on the Middle Eastern conflict. However, when pressed on whether Pakistan's military operations warrant the same characterisation, Ibrahim opted to avoid a direct comparison.

During questioning, Ibrahim was asked whether he would classify Pakistan's actions in Pahalgam, a region in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, as 'state terror'. The Prime Minister declined to make such an equivalence, instead steering the conversation away from a direct assessment of Pakistani military conduct.

The exchange underscores the delicate balance regional leaders must maintain when addressing sensitive geopolitical matters. While governments often take strong stances on conflicts in distant regions, they frequently exercise caution when commenting on military actions by neighbouring states with whom they maintain diplomatic and economic ties.
