Malaysian rescue team awaits Nepal clearance to deploy

The Special Malaysian Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) is ready to mobilise pending governmental authorisation from Nepal, according to Commander Abdul Manaf Che Isa. The team has finalised all necessary arrangements and equipment for deployment, with personnel prepared to depart at short notice once clearance is received from the Nepali authorities. Such operational readiness typically involves coordination between Malaysia's disaster management agencies and the host nation's government to ensure smooth deployment and effective collaboration during rescue operations. The approval process is a standard protocol that allows Nepali officials to coordinate international assistance with local emergency response efforts and determine the optimal timing and scope of the Malaysian team's involvement. SMART teams are frequently positioned to respond to natural disasters and emergencies across the Asia-Pacific region, with trained personnel capable of conducting search, rescue, and humanitarian assistance operations in challenging environments.
